The Bulls are set to undergo a major schedule shakeup this week as the team’s game against the Hornets — originally scheduled for Wednesday — is now postponed. The Hornets played the Spurs on Sunday and San Antonio has since reported multiple cases of COVID-19.
That means the Hornets’ next two games, one of which was Wednesday’s game against the Bulls, are postponed.
While many would have thought the Bulls would not be playing until Friday’s game against the 76ers, new reports from Shams Charania of The Athletic state the NBA is working on adding an improvised game between the Pistons and the Bulls set for Wednesday night.
This potential new matchup would take the place of the Hornets game and would fit nicely in the schedule given the Pistons have had both their Tuesday and Wednesday night games postponed. Detroit’s originally scheduled Wednesday game against the Mavericks was postponed due to severe weather in Dallas.
With the NBA only scheduling games through March, the league has the flexibility to remove a future matchup between the Bulls and Pistons and place it in the Wednesday night slot, which would make way for a make-up game against the Hornets.
