The Chicago Wolves officially announced on Thursday that the team has added forward Morgan Geekie from the Carolina Hurricanes. Geekie has skated in nine games with the Hurricanes so far this season.
The Carolina Hurricanes drafted Geekie in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft held in Chicago. He played four seasons in the WHL with the Tri-City Americans before playing the last two seasons professionally.
In 2018-19, Geekie registered 46 points (19 goals, 22 assists) with the Charlotte Checkers. He also collected 18 points in 19 playoff games en route to winning the Calder Cup with the Checkers. In 2019-20, Geekie posted 42 points in 55 games with the Checkers before being called up and playing two games with the Hurricanes prior to the COVID-19 shutdown.
In those two games with Carolina, Geekie racked up three goals and an assist. However, through nine games this season he has been held scoreless.
Wolves’ head coach Ryan Warsofsky coached Geekie the prior two seasons in Charlotte. Warsofsky now has another forward to add to his collection of talent for the 2021 AHL campaign.
