Why Snoop Dogg’s 19 Crimes Snoop Cali Red Wine is Worth a Try

Snoop Dogg’s collaboration with 19 Crimes on a Cali Red wine is certainly worth a try at only $12 a bottle.

Snoop Dogg Wine

The girlfriend and I went to Mariano’s in search of something to pair with a home-cooked meal this past weekend. Once we laid our eyes on Uncle Snoop, we knew it was a winner. I am not much of a wine drinker by any means, but pairing a ’90s hip-hop icon with the bottle only costing $12 made it worth a try.

While Snoop Dogg is widely known for his music and performing with the likes of Dr. Dre, Tupac, and Ice Cube, he is also a businessman. He recently has collaborated with Martha Stewart on TV shows in addition to serving as an announcer for a fight. Snoop teamed up with Australian winemaker, 19 Crimes, on a Cali Red for this collab.

The Looks

Snoop Dogg Wine

My first thoughts on the label? It looks like an album cover/wanted poster. It easily grabs your attention compared side-by-side with one of those fancy wines that just features a crest on the bottle. Once you open the bottle, Snoop’s mugshot appears on the side of the cork. It is a nice unique touch for fans buying this wine as a gimmick. In the glass, the wine appears rich and has more of a deep purple color, which could be deceiving to a casual wine drinker expecting something more “red”.

Before I dove in, I had to flip on “Nuthin’ but a G’Thang” and put my Sox hat on to get the full experience.

The Taste

My first thoughts on the taste? Very fruity. It was not “dry” like a merlot either. It was soft too. The more I sipped, the more I liked picking out candied cherry and blackberry elements. It wasn’t bitter or sweet, but instead a happy medium. Again, the fruit flavor was evident, but nothing overly sweet like grape juice. According to the label, it has a hint of oak and a bit of black licorice. Overall, 19 Crimes Cali Red went down really smooth.

It also comes in at 14% ABV, so sipping on this gem can get you in a good place quickly if you are jamming out to “Gin and Juice” and “The Next Episode”.

In all honesty, I would buy this bottle again if I planning out another wine night, especially since it only cost $12. I wouldn’t go as far as pairing it with a gourmet meal, but a sipping/causal setting or event would be perfect for this, especially if there were some tunes to vibe with.

Till next time! Happy drinking!
