After igniting his music career in the offseason, White Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada is feeling strong and ready for a 162-plus game campaign in 2021. In an interview with’s Scott Merkin, Moncada said he did not feel like himself at all during the 2020 season after being diagnosed with COVID-19 ahead of the team’s Summer Camp.

Since the virus is still relatively new, no one necessarily knows when symptoms tend to subside, but everyone recalls the example of Moncada being winded after rounding the bases last season. In the early stages of Spring Training, Moncada is dealing with a bit of arm soreness, so the team will monitor his throwing program. Aside from that, Moncada is ready to go for the 2021 season.

Moncada slashed .315/.367/.548 with 25 homers and 34 doubles in 2019. The White Sox will need his bat to return to that form this season in order for their lineup to be as dangerous as possible. It seems people have forgotten Moncada was the top prospect in baseball in 2016 and still maintained a .335 OBP in his 395 career games. He has the capability to rank among the league’s top third baseman and propel himself into the All-Star Game this season and in years to come. So White Sox fans, are you ready to see this again, while sitting in the stands, like in years past?
