The Rockford IceHogs are making an addition to their goaltending group. This morning, the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate signed Ivan Nalimov to a standard player’s contract for the remainder of the current season.
Nalimov, 26, was a sixth-round pick of the Blackhawks in the 2014 NHL draft. The Russian-born netminder spent the past seven seasons playing in the KHL, compiling a 60-73-14 record, 2.63 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage over 166 games.
Nalimov signed a professional tryout agreement with the IceHogs last season on March 7th, but the cancellation of the AHL season squashed that opportunity. The Russian goalie spent the 2020-21 season with Dinamo Riga, where he played 14 games, leaving him with a 2-11-0 record, a 3.58 goals-against average, and a .877 save percentage.
The IceHogs hit the ice against the Iowa Wild this weekend. Puck drop for Saturday’s contest is at 6:00 PM CT. Both clubs will turn around and do it again on Sunday at 4:00 PM CT.
