News broke early Monday morning that injured Chicago Blackhawks center Kirby Dach was participating in optional practice.
Dach, who was injured participating in the World Juniors for Team Canada in December, made his first public appearance on the ice with the rest of the Blackhawks who decided to participate. After practice, it was also reported that Dach would be traveling with the Blackhawks on their next road trip.
Pair the two bits together and that would leave Blackhawks fans, who have watched what they thought would be a bottom dweller turn into this years NHL Cinderella story in the early going, with plenty to speculate about. Don’t get too excited though, because just shortly after the news broke Jeremy Colliton said “Dach still has a ways to go” before he sees any game action.
It is still an extremely encouraging sign to see Dach back on the ice and traveling with the team. However, don’t get your hopes up that he’s playing, the roster will still look the same. This roadtrip likely will be a learning experience for these young, shorthanded Blackhawks as they fight for a playoff spot.
