Illini’s Ayo Dosunmu & Kofi Cockburn Earn Sporting News All-American Honors

Illini stars Ayo Dosunmu & Kofi Cockburn earned Sporting News All-American Honors for their excellent 2020-21 seasons.

The stars for the number three Illinois basketball team have been named to the Sporting News All-American College Basketball team. Ayo Dosunmu earned unanimous first-team votes, while Kofi Cockburn earned second-team.

Dosunmu is the only player in the last 11 years of NCAA basketball to average 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists. He has asserted his dominance as one of the best players in the country.

Cockburn ranks second in the nation with 15 double-doubles. Without his presence in the middle, who knows what this Illini team would look like?

This is quite an honor for these two players as they lead the Illinois basketball team into the tournament in search of a National Championship.
