After the announcement of the Sporting News All-Americans, the Illini basketball team has plenty of other notable recognitions after an impressive 2020-21 regular season.

Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn both received First-Team All-Big Ten honors.

Senior guard Trent Frazier is an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and a member of the All-Defensive team:

Finally, Andre Curbelo wins All-Freshman honors in the Big Ten.

These awards are well-deserved all across the board for the Illini basketball program. When looking from afar, it’s easy to just key in on Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn as the team’s star players. However, anybody who followed Illinois basketball game in and game out throughout the 2020-21 season knows it took a complete team effort to achieve what they did. Dosunmu and Cockburn racked up their awards as expected, but it’s nice to see Frazier and Curbelo receive honors for their significant contributions as well.
