The Second City announced that it will to reopen to the public on May 7th with one-hour shows. Tickets go on sale on March 25th.
“We realize that most people have binge-watched every TV show ever made at this point, so it’s exciting that live, in-person experiences are set to make their long-awaited return,” said The Second City’s executive producer Jon Carr.
Comedians have been doing virtual shows to help keep their craft alive, but nothing can compare to performing for a live audience.
The Second City is one of the world’s comedy Meccas. The Second City has featured the likes of Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Dan Akroyd, Jim and John Belushi, and George Wendt — all of whom held residencies there.
Comedy has been part of Chicago’s culture. Winter here sucks, so the comedy is a great weekend activity when you can’t go outside.
