Saturday was a very eventful day for Bears news coming out of Halas Hall. Most of it was not good news.
Bears Release Kyle Fuller
The Bears were shopping two-time Pro Bowl CB Kyle Fuller this week, but couldn’t find a partner. The Bears were left with a single option, to release him. Unfortunately, the Bears’ cap situation was the reason for the move. This move freed up $11 million in cap space for the Bears.
The Bears have now officially released CB Kyle Fuller. No trade came together. He’s free to sign with a new team ASAP.

Fuller lasted less than an hour on the market. The Denver Broncos, and former Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, picked Fuller up quickly. While Fuller is gone, the Bears recently signed former Lions CB Desmond Trufant to a one-year deal.

Fans are irritated with this move, especially since it mirrors what happened to Adrian Amos. Fuller was a fan favorite who was drafted by the Bears and played hard his entire career, leaving an impressive stat line.

Kenny Golladay to Giants
Kenny Golladay, who was a stand out receiver for the Lions last year, met with the Bears earlier this week. Golladay also met with the Giants and made his decision Saturday to go to New York. The Bears reportedly made an “aggressive offer”. It was also reported that this wasn’t to put pressure on Allen Robinson to sign the franchise tag but was “genuine interest”. According to Ian Rapoport, Golladay “clicked” with the Giants coaching staff.
The #Giants lock in a No. 1 WR in Kenny Golladay, paying him $18M a year to do it. The #Bears came on strong with a significant push, essentially a recruiting effort. But Golladay wanted the Giants and the two sides worked the last 24 hours to close the deal.

Akiem Hicks to stay with the Bears?
According to sources earlier this week, Hicks was demanding a trade. This displeasure came after the Bears signed Andy Dalton to a one-year deal. Fans didn’t blame Hicks, but knew it would be a huge hole to fill. Bears beat reporter Brad Biggs said the previous information with Hicks has now changed, stating Hicks is now likely staying in Chicago. With Eddie Goldman coming back to play this year after sitting out due to COVID-19, the Bears front seven looks strong.
Sources who said Akiem Hicks was available are now indicating he's likely back with the #Bears. They have a major hole to fill at CB but would keep the front 7 of the defense in place. Certainly has been a fluid start to the new league year for the team.

Bears fans are still on edge, craving some positive news knowing that Andy Dalton is not going to put this team over the top.
