Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Chicago Bears have signed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams.
Williams will join David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen in the backfield for the Bears this season. With this addition, Matt Nagy has another multi-tool player to run his offense. The 27-year-old spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and was a a big factor in their 2020 Super Bowl victory. In that game against the 49ers, Williams rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries. He also added four receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown.
As Rapoport reported, Williams sat out the 2020 season for COVID-19 related reasons. He should be well rested and ready to contribute to what looks like a brand new Chicago Bears offense.
