After signing top international prospect Yoelqui Céspedes in January, the White Sox are reportedly set to sign one of 2022’s top international prospects next January. Francys Romero provided the latest report.
Oscar Colas has earned the nickname ‘Cuban Ohtani” because he plays the outfield and pitches as well. Colas, just 22 years of age, played in Japan last season before being released to pursue a contract in the MLB. Colas bats and throws lefty but is projected to be a better hitter than a pitcher.
It’s an undeniable fact that the White Sox have become the Cuban pipeline to the MLB. Yoelqui Céspedes looks to join fellow Cuban Luis Robert in the outfield in the next two years, and Colas could be right behind him to comprise an all-Cuban outfield. After so many top-tier prospects have joined the big league squad, the White Sox need to reload their system. Céspedes was a nice start, but Colas would make it even stronger.
