Bears Re-Sign Cornerback Artie Burns

The offseason continues moving along for the Chicago Bears. No matter how small some of these recent signings may seem, the Bears continue to bolster their roster by completing them. On Friday, reports surfaced indicating the Bears are bringing back cornerback Artie Burns on a one-year deal.

This new pact will mark Burns’ second contract with the Bears. He previously signed a one-year deal with Chicago prior to the 2020 season. However, Burns landed on the injured reserve list and missed all of last season due to a torn ACL, which he suffered during training camp.

Nevertheless, the 25-year old is a former first-round pick of the Steelers. Drafted in 2016, Burns spent four seasons with Pittsburgh before the Steelers declined his fifth-year option. His career has been lackluster up until this point and he is looking for a fresh start. Burns is still young enough to prove his worth and he will have an opportunity to do so thanks to the void created by the departure of Kyle Fuller.
