The Chicago Blackhawks are finally getting some reinforcements back at the center ice position. Kirby Dach will be in the lineup tonight when the Blackhawks take on the Nashville Predators.
Dach suffered a broken wrist during an exhibition game on December 23rd ahead of the World Junior Championships. An original recovery timeline tabbed Dach to miss four to five months, but he has been ahead of schedule with his hockey-related activities.
Kirby Dach’s return could not come at a better time for the Blackhawks as they look to maintain their playoff position in the Central Division standings. Due to the absences of Dach and Jonathan Toews, the Blackhawks’ depth at the center position has been thin all season.
Dach seemed to take his game to another level during the playoffs last season, where he recorded one goal and five assists while averaging 19:24 TOI over nine games. While there may be some initial rust at first, Dach figures to be a key contributor for the Blackhawks down the home stretch of the season.
