Stan Bowman and the Chicago Blackhawks are making another roster move. On Monday, the team placed forward Lucas Wallmark on waivers. The move comes as a little bit of a surprise, even when considering the Vinnie Hinostroza trade over the weekend.

It appeared early on that Wallmark was very much in the Blackhawks plans this season. He was brought in to provide stability the faceoff circle and seemed to play well within coach Jeremy Colliton’s system. However, once the 25-year-old hit the COVID-19 list for the first time following a two-game point streak, the Blackhawks struggled to get reintegrate him into the offense. Wallmark went from having three points in the first five games to being held pointless in his next 11 contests.

Despite the waiver placement, the team may still be interested in getting another look at Wallmark. Coach Colliton expressed hope that Wallmark can clear waivers and return to the team’s taxi squad.

With forward depth being a concern and potential trade deadline moves on the horizon, it would come as no surprise to see Lucas Wallmark in a Blackhawks sweater again.
