Earlier today, Bleacher Report reported the death of rap star Earl “DMX” Simmons.
DMX released eight studio albums, 46 singles, and made dozens of guest appearances with colleagues. As of 2014, DMX became the fifth best-selling rap artist of the Nielsen era in the United States with 23.3 million albums sold.
DMX was very open about addiction issues that he has dealt with since the ripe age of 14. He spent a better part of his life in and out of prison due to various issues while drug and alcohol use continued until the time of his death. A possible overdose may have triggered the heart attack that led to his passing at a young age.
Many colleagues and friends shared grieving messages on Twitter:
Simmons is survived by numerous family members, many of whom were at his side during his last moments. DMX was 50 at the time of passing.
