Despite the Cubs’ 6-3 loss on Monday in Milwaukee, one positive to take away was the clean inning and a third from former prospect Justin Steele.

The Cubs, unfortunately, had to place Jason Adam, Brandon Workman, and Dan Winkler on the COVID-19 related injured list ahead of the series opener against the Brewers.

The Cubs promoted Steele, Pedro Strop and Brad Wieck as bullpen reinforcements.

The Brewers held a commanding 6-1 advantage after a disaster where the Cubs allowed six runs, three charged to starter Adbert Alzolay and three charged to reliever Andrew Chafin.

Steele relieved Chafin and made the most of his opportunity.

A game many Cubs fans will likely forget in the next week will be one Steele will remember for the rest of his life.

Steele pitched an inning and a third in which he struck out two batters, walked one, and allowed one hit. The lefty reliever has been part of the Cubs organization since 2014.

Based on his performance, it appears as though the moment wasn’t too big for Steele. He shared an Instagram post with a heartfelt message after the game expressing gratitude and excitement regarding his MLB debut.
