On Wednesday afternoon White Sox General Manager Rick Hahn announced the team is placing starting pitcher Dylan Cease on the injured list with COVID-19 symptoms. It is important to note here that Dylan Cease has not tested positive for COVID-19, but since he is displaying symptoms the team is taking a precautionary measure by placing him on the IL.
The White Sox have recalled right-handed pitcher Zack Burdi in a corresponding move. Burdi, a reliever, made eight appearances for the White Sox out of the bullpen last season. Burdi did not fair well in his eight appearances last season, pitching 7.1 innings while giving up 11 hits, 11 runs (9 earned), four home runs, three walks, and 11 strikeouts.
The White Sox and Indians square off for the third time on Wednesday night. The teams finish their series on Thursday, with Carlos Rodon and Lance Lynn taking the ball the next two games for the White Sox.
