The morning after Carlos Rodon made history on the south side, fans have more good news to take in regarding another rotation member.
After experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and being placed on the injured list for precaution, right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease is on the up, and on track to make his start on Friday in Boston. The 25-year-old still has a test to pass, but otherwise is feeling healthy.
Cease, who has a 0-0 record thus far with a 3.86 ERA and nine strikeouts in 9.1 innings, will likely face a Red Sox team who has taken the league by storm in the first few weeks of the season. After a slow start, Boston is now 9-3 prior to their series finale in Minnesota Thursday afternoon.
Boston will send Nick Pivetta, a 6-foot-5 right hander to the mound. In his first two starts of 2021, Pivetta holds a 2-0 record with a 3.27 ERA. Over his 11 innings pitched, he has 11 punch outs.
First pitch from Fenway Park on Friday is set for 6:10 PM CDT. The White Sox conclude their series with Cleveland on Thursday at 1:10 PM CDT. Be sure to tune in to Sox On Tap’s postgame show for reaction and analysis.
