Robert Berić of the Chicago Fire has been named to the first MLS Team of the Week of 2021.

The striker kicked things off for the Fire by scoring the team’s first goal of the season on a play that capped off a beautiful spell of team passing:

And then, just six minutes later, Berić assisted Luka Stojanović for the Fire’s second goal of the match:

The Fire could not hold onto the early lead, eventually conceding two goals to the New England Revolution within the next 15 minutes. Both sides had to settle for one point apiece in the draw.

Berić, who was the Fire’s leading scorer last season (12), logged five shots in the match, three of which were on target, leading to 1.3 expected goals. Overall, the performance earned an 8.44 WhoScored rating and a Man of the Match award.

Berić and the Fire will be back in action against Atlanta United on Saturday, April 24th with kick-off scheduled at 7:00 PM CT.
