Notre Dame is commonly known as O-Line U, and Aaron Banks adds further credence to that designation. Banks is a 6-foot-5, 325lb monster of an offensive guard. He enrolled at Notre Dame in 2017 as one of 11 freshmen receiving a scholarship. The former four-star recruit spent his freshmen year on the scout team, but the fun started his sophomore year with the Irish.

As a sophomore, Banks played all 13 games for the Irish and started the back half of them. In Banks’ junior year, he really shined. This time around, Banks started all 13 games and recorded the second-highest pass block rate, 83.5, from Pro Football Focus. Banks saw 844 total snaps on his side and allowed just two sacks. During his senior season, he started 12 of 13 games including Notre Dame’s first-ever trip to the Rose Bowl. Banks is a stud and his impressive resume backs it up:

  • ESPN All-American Team
  • All-ACC First Team
  • ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week on November 7th against powerhouse Clemson
  • And more

When it comes down to it, any team can use offensive line help. With a 6.2 NFL prospect score, Banks should make a roster immediately and the sky is the limit from there. Coming off the board on Day 2 is a likely scenario for Banks, whether it be in the second or third round. A run-heavy team would be an ideal landing spot for him as he can continue to be a great run blocker.

Pass blocking will be a bigger challenge for Banks as he may not have the explosiveness NFL teams are looking for. Interior pass blocking at the next level may be difficult, but he shows no signs of slowing down.
