Chicago Bears fans are losing their minds right now. There is currently a widespread sigh of relief across Chicago because, for once, the Bears didn’t ruin us.

After trading up to the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Bears selected Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

This is the happiest Bears fans have been in a long time. The door was closing and another rebuild was in sight. Ryan Pace, Matt Nagy, Ted Phillips, and George McCaskey take a lot of heat, but they can sleep a bit easier for the rest of the offseason now.

While intrigue surrounding Justin Fields will dominate the storylines until September, the best part of this move is the value of the trade.

The Bears traded their 2021 and 2022 first-round picks as well as this year’s fifth-round pick and next year’s fourth-round pick to move up nine spots in the draft. A major concern for Bears heading into this draft was potentially completely mortgaging the future. As things stand right now, it seems like they didn’t.

When the fall rolls around, we may still see Andy Dalton but likely not for too long. The Chicago Bears have found a way to keep the rookie QB window open and have injected hope back into the fan base. No one has any idea how it will play out, but right now the Bears are winning the NFL Draft.
