The Chicago White Sox made some roster moves heading into today’s doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. Luis Robert is returning to the roster after landing on the injured list due to flu-like symptoms. Luckily Robert’s absence was short as his COVID-19 testing came back negative. On the season, Robert is slashing .302/.356/.463. with one home run, six RBIs, and four stolen bases.
Unfortunately, left-handed flame-thrower Garrett Crochet is heading to the ten-day injured list with an upper back strain. Crochet hasn’t been as dominant as he was when he debuted in the 2020 shortened MLB season, but he has still proved effective. In nine innings pitched this year, Crochet sports a 1.00 ERA with eight strikeouts.
Additionally, the White Sox recalled utility infielder Danny Mendick to serve as the 27th man for today’s doubleheader. Mendick is slashing .375/.524/.375 over 21 plate appearances so far in 2021.
