Chicago Cubs’ star Kris Bryant has won National League Player of the Week for games from April 26th through May 2nd. In that time he went 10-28 with three doubles, four homers, and ten RBIs.

On the season, Bryant is slashing .323/.405/.708 with ten doubles, nine home runs, and 22 RBIs. He ranks fifth in the MLB and second in the National League in slugging percentage at .708, tied for first in the MLB in home runs at nine, tied for fourth with teammate Javy Baez at 22 RBIs, and tied for fourth in MLB in WAR at 1.8. This is the closest we’ve seen Kris Bryant to his 2016 MVP form, and he might be outpacing himself so far this year.

Joc Pederson Activated from the 10-Day Injured List

In other Cubs Monday news, the club activated Joc Pederson from the ten-day injured list (wrist) just in time for a series against his former team. He was slated to play left field and bat leadoff for the first time as a Chicago Cub on Monday, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Pitcher Keegan Thompson, who made his MLB debut on Sunday against the Reds, returns to the South Bend alternate training site to make room for Pederson on the roster. In his debut, Thompson pitched a clean inning against the middle of the Reds order. Cubs fans can expect to see more of Thompson before the season is over.
