Bulls Lose to 76ers 106-94, Essentially Ending Play-In Hopes

While the Bulls fought back from a 23-point deficit, it was too little, too late as the team’s slim play-in hopes faded away with loss to the 76ers.

The Chicago Bulls fell to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night by a final score of 106-94.

It was a true team performance by Philadelphia – who won their fifth straight game – as the team had five players in double-figures on the night.

Tobias Harris led the way with 21 points, Seth Curry added 20 points of his own, and Joel Embiid added another double-double to his stat sheet, scoring 13 points and hauling in 10 rebounds.

Coby White led the way with 23 points for the Bulls, who were without their two star players in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

Stumbling Out of the Gates

The Sixers never trailed in this game, firing on all cylinders from the start, shooting 71% from the field during the first quarter. Seth Curry scored 11 of his 20 points in the first as Philly led 34-20 after the quarter.

The Bulls continued to struggle in the first half, shooting the ball a measly 35% from the field, while Philadelphia shot just over 60%, allowing the Sixers to lead by 17 points at the half.

Philadelphia led by as many as 23 points in the third quarter and took a 20-point lead heading into the fourth. However, the Bulls did not go down easy, going on a 24-5 run to cut the lead to just one point midway through the fourth.

But, the Sixers starters went back out on the court and took care of business the rest of the way, pulling off a 12-4 run that kept the Bulls at arm’s length. Once again, the Bulls showed fight, but inconsistent play all around turned out to create a deficit too large to overcome.

With the Wizards beating Indiana last night, the Bulls are now four games out of the 10th and final play-in spot, and with only seven games to go, it looks like the playoffs will have to wait another year.

Chicago born and raised. Cubs and Bulls die hard. Love the Hawks and Bears too. You can usually find me drinking beers at AJ Hudson's watching West Ham soccer in the Premier League or hiking on a mountain somewhere.
