The Chicago Red Stars announced the addition of a second group of owners to its already extensive ownership group.

Similar to the first set of owners, which were announced back in March, the newest members of the ownership group make up a diverse set of people from a variety of backgrounds. They include award-winning actress Aimee Garcia, US Men’s National Team gymnast Josh Dixon, Netflix Head of Global TV Bela Bajaria, and Chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group Channing Dungey.

We continue to be overwhelmed and thrilled with the number of great humans that want to ensure that the Red Stars grow and succeed,” said Chairman and Principal Owner, Arnim Whisler.

“It truly is a testament to the family of current and former players and staff, our success on the field, the powerful brand we’ve built, and the incredible city we represent. This group will elevate the club not only in Chicago, but nationally and internationally.”

The Red Stars seem to be following the ownership model set by Angel City FC, a club that will make its NWSL debut next season. The LA-based club has put together a star-studded ownership group – which includes Hollywood actress Natalie Portman and one of the best tennis players of all time, Serena Williams – that has thrown the NWSL into the global spotlight.

Chicago born and raised. Cubs and Bulls die hard. Love the Hawks and Bears too. You can usually find me drinking beers at AJ Hudson's watching West Ham soccer in the Premier League or hiking on a mountain somewhere.
