The Chicago Bears are once again back in the limelight. After just two primetime games last season, the Bears once again find themselves playing on national television to begin the season. This time, it will be against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.
This occurrence marks the third time in the past four seasons that the Bears will start the season in primetime and the fourth straight season they play the Rams. In 2018 and 2019, they squared off against the division rival Green Bay Packers, both highly anticipated matchups. General manager Ryan Pace had just made the infamous trade for Khalil Mack a week before the 2018 matchup. They squared off again in 2019 to mark their 100th season as a franchise.
What also makes this matchup significant is the possibility of the first career starts for 2021 draft picks Justin Fields and Teven Jenkins. Fields starting would be a very significant storyline, as head coach Matt Nagy has named Andy Dalton the starting quarterback heading into 2021. However, many expect Fields to make a competition come training camp.
The full NFL schedule will be announced on Wednesday. Stay tuned to On Tap Sports Net for any updates regarding the Chicago Bears.
