The NFL finally released the full slate of games for the 2021 season this evening. However, this year will mark the first time in forty-three years that the NFL will expand their schedule. In 1978, the league went from a 14-game schedule to the 16-game schedule everyone has grown accustomed to. Nevertheless, the NFL will sport a 17-game schedule for the first time ever.

As a result, in typical fashion, there were multiple schedule leaks trickling in, leading up to the official schedule release. A lot of which were unconfirmed reports. However, the league officially confirmed the Week One matchups. In Week One, the Chicago Bears will open the season on Sunday Night Football in Los Angeles against the Rams.

Now, here is a look at the Chicago Bears’ full 2021 NFL Schedule:

Primetime Bears?

Despite a lackluster performance in 2020, the Bears find themselves under the bright lights for a handful of times again in 2021. The NFL has them penciled in for four games in primetime (not including the Thanksgiving game). This may be in direct correlation to the Justin Fields pick. While it’s great being showcased in front of a national audience, it’s a little disappointing how skewed it is against the Bears. In fact, of the five total games in primetime, only one is played at Soldier Field. This is even more disappointing considering the Bears will finally have fans back in the seats.

Here is a quick rundown of all the games the Bears will play in primetime in 2021.

  • Week 1: at Los Angeles Rams (SNF)
  • Week 9: at Pittsburgh Steelers (MNF)
  • Week 12: at Detroit Lions (Thanksgiving)
  • Week 14: at Green Bay Packers (SNF)
  • Week 15: vs. Minnesota Vikings (MNF)

Strength of Schedule

The Bears were deemed to have the third-toughest schedule this upcoming season based off the 2020 standings. While last year’s results have no barring on what happens in 2021, it’s still an interesting nugget.

Per @ButkusStats here are some numbers that would validate or disprove some of the strength of schedule concerns.

Bears fans how are we feeling about this schedule? Which games are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments and/or replies.
