The Chicago White Sox made a pair of roster moves ahead of their four-game set against the Cleveland Indians.
The club placed right-handed pitcher Michael Kopech on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring issue that seemingly couldn’t be solved when he was on the bereavement list. In a corresponding move, right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert has been recalled from Triple-A Charlotte as the 27th man for Monday’s doubleheader.
Lambert is slated to start the second game of the Memorial Day twin bill. He has struggled early on for the Knights, but his last few starts were a bit of improvement, including his outing against Norfolk. The 26-year-old California native made his MLB debut on July 25th of last year.. He threw just a pair of innings in 2020, yielding a pair of hits but holding a 0.00 ERA across eight hitters.
The pitching staff for the Sox has been lights out for the most part all season long, but losing Kopech, who has been their largest weapon, will likely test how Tony La Russa handles the bridge between starter and short reliever over the next few series.
