For the sixth time in his career, Jose Abreu has earned American League Player of the Week honors. The Chicago White Sox first baseman and 2020 American League MVP has been on an absolute tear as of late.
Abreu hit .375 with nine hits, two home runs, ten RBIs, and four runs scored in seven games between May 24 and May 30. In a week that saw the White Sox bounce back after being swept by the New York Yankees, Abreu stepped up mightily to help lead the White Sox to two series wins.
Abreu logged a .213 batting average with 20 hits, five homers, 19 RBIs, and 11 runs scored in 25 games throughout April. He turned it around in May by posting a .333 batting average with 28 hits, six homers, 27 RBIs, and 16 runs scored in 25 games.
