Chicago Cubs right-hander Ryan Tepera was named National League Reliever of the Month for May.

Tepera allowed just one earned run over 14.2 innings while striking out 19 batters and allowing zero walks throughout May. The highlight of Tepera’s month came against the Cardinals when he entered the game with no outs and a bases-loaded jam, which he was ultimately able to escape without allowing any runs to score.

Tepera’s stellar performance was an integral part of the Cubs’ May success that saw them overtake first place in the NL Central as the calendar flipped to June.
