Per Jeff Goodman of Stadium Sports, Duke head coach and NCAA basketball legend Mike Krzyzewski will retire from basketball after the 2021-22 season. Assistant coach Jon Scheyer is currently the front-runner to replace him. Scheyer played for Duke from 2006-2010 and has served as a full-time Duke assistant coach since 2014.

Coach K is the all-time leader in college basketball wins with 1,170. He has led the Blue Devils to five NCAA Championship Titles, 12 Final Four appearances, 15 ACC Tournament Championship titles, and 12 ACC Regular Season titles. He also coached the United States Men’s Olympic Basketball Team to three gold metals (2008, 2012, and 2016).

He is a legend of the game and college basketball will miss him as the coaching face of the game. Duke will be left in strong hands with Scheyer, but fans will certainly miss Coach K’s prowess on the court.
