Three Chicago Blackhawks players will play for Canada against reigning champion Finland in the 2021 IIHF World Championship gold-medal game Sunday.

Brandon Pirri scored the opening goal in Canada’s 4-2 semifinal win against the United States on Saturday to make the gold-medal game. Sean Walker’s (Los Angeles Kings) shot off the rush bounced off Cal Petersen’s (Kings) left pad to the slot for Pirri, who knocked in the rebound for the goal.

Pirri had two shots in 14:55 of ice time in the game. Defenseman Nicolas Beaudin had one shot in 9:45 and forward Brandon Hagel skated 12:52.

Pirri has scored three goals in nine tournament games. His goal total is tied with Dominik Kubalik (Czech Republic) for the most by a Blackhawks player at this year’s tournament.

Drew Commesso did not dress for Saturday’s game and remains the United States’ No. 3 goalie. Team USA will play Lukas Reichel and Germany in the bronze-medal game.

Reichel had two shots – each one in the first period – and was 3-of-6 on face-offs in 16:03 for Germany in a 2-1 semifinal loss to Finland on Saturday.
