The Chicago White Sox are heading to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Tigers this weekend. The South Siders enter Friday night’s game against Detroit with a record of 38-24, good for first place in the American League Central with a 4.5-game lead over the Cleveland Indians. The Tigers enter the weekend set with a 26-36 record and are currently in fourth place in the AL Central, 12 games back of the first-place White Sox.

Elite record, elite swag

The Chicago White Sox are coming off a series win against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Sox took two of three from the young and promising AL East squad. The Detroit Tigers are coming off a series win of their own against the Seattle Mariners. Detroit took two of three from Seattle in Detroit and are looking to build off that series win.

This will be the second weekend in a row featuring a White Sox vs. Tigers matchup. From June 3-6, the teams played a four-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field where the White Sox took three of four contests. The South Siders’ lone loss came last Saturday as the Tigers got lucky and beat the Sox 4-3. It was more like the White Sox beat themselves. Anyway, let’s get into the nitty-gritty here.
