Ahead of a weekend series in Houston, the Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Adam Eaton on the ten-day injured list.
Eaton’s ailment is a strained right hamstring and his placement on the injured list is retroactive to June 15. The veteran outfielder has endured major struggles as of late, resulting in his batting average plummeting below .200 (.195).
In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled RHP Zack Burdi from Triple-A Charlotte. Burdi owns a 5.59 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 9.2 innings across nine appearances for the Knights so far in 2021. This move provides the White Sox another right-handed arm in the bullpen as Michael Kopech continues to work his way back from a hamstring ailment of his own.
With Eaton landing on the injured list, the White Sox will likely continue to utilize Brian Goodwin and Jake Lamb as their primary left-handed-hitting outfield options.
