The Chicago Cubs start a five-game homestand at Wrigley Field on Friday, with a three-game series against the Miami Marlins.

It will be the first series between the Cubs and Marlins since last year’s NL Wild Card series. Miami defeated the Cubs 5-1 and 2-0 at Wrigley Field to win the best-of-three series and advance to the divisional round, where they were swept by the Atlanta Braves.

The Cubs (39-30, first in NL Central) ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win against the New York Mets on Thursday night. Kyle Hendricks allowed only two hits and struck out seven in six scoreless innings to win his seventh consecutive start. Javier Baez provided the only offense the Cubs needed in the first inning with a two-run home run that landed on top of the red apple in center field at Citi Field.

Andrew Chafin, Ryan Tepera, and Craig Kimbrel each threw a perfect inning in relief for the win. Kimbrel’s performance earned him his 19th save this season and 367th in his career, which is tied for tenth all-time in MLB history.

The Marlins (29-39, fifth in NL East) extended their losing streak to four games with a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Miami scored only three runs in the three-game series in St. Louis.

The Cubs have found success this season at Wrigley Field, with a 24-10 record. The Marlins are 13-25 on the road.
