For a team decimated by injuries, the Chicago White Sox finally received some good news on Tuesday. When talking with the media, White Sox manager Tony La Russa provided an update on a crucial part of the pitching staff: right hander Michael Kopech.
While not giving a direct timetable for return, it seems we will see Kopech sooner rather than later. It couldn’t come at a better time for the team, who has seen recent struggles from key members of the bullpen. Kopech will be particularly useful as the defacto sixth starter and an arm that can pitch multiple innings if needed.
Before the injury, Kopech appeared in 14 games and posted a 2-0 record with a 1.72 ERA and 45 strikeouts. He also kept a staggering 12.9 K/9 ratio.
