The Chicago Cubs return to Wrigley Field on Monday from their 10-game road trip when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in a four-game series.

The Cubs (42-42, third in NL Central) started their road trip with the first combined no-hitter in franchise history in a 4-0 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. But, it was all downhill from there as Chicago lost a season-high nine straight games to fall to .500 for the first time since May 19. The Cubs have struggled to hit with a 3-2 loss Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds marking the first game since June 11 the Cubs have reached double digits in hits.

Jake Arrieta will face his former team Tuesday for the first time since he re-joined the Cubs. Arrieta played the past three seasons for the Phillies (39-42, fourth in NL East), who will have Aaron Nola take the mound Tuesday.

Philadelphia is 5-5 in its past 10 games, which includes a 1-1 mark against the New York Mets in a doubleheader that went to eight innings in each game. The Phillies are below .500 at the halfway point of the season for the first time since 2017. Zack Wheeler has been a major bright spot for the Phillies, with an MLB-leading 139 strikeouts. He will pitch Game Three of the series against Chicago.

Season Series

The four-game set will be the first two meetings between the two clubs. The Phillies host the Cubs from Sept. 14-16 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
