Chicago Fire FC forward Ignacio Aliseda and midfielder Álvaro Medrán were named to the week 11 MLS Team of the Week for their robust contributions towards a 3-0 victory against Atlanta United.
Medrán and Aliseda combined for the team’s most impressive goal of the season on Saturday. Medrán started the play with a breathtaking run down the middle of the pitch. After beating multiple Atlanta defenders, he found Aliseda, who sent a screamer off the underside of the crossbar and over the line. Aliseda notched his second tally of the night just minutes before halftime with a beautiful curler to the back post. Later in the game, he also assisted on the Fire’s third goal.
The accolades didn’t stop there for the Argentine international as he also took home the award for Player of the Week after recording his first-ever professional brace. The MLS Player of the Week is voted on by journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) and fans on Twitter.
The Fire welcome Orlando City SC to Soldier Field on July 7. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM CDT on WGN-TV, ChicagoFireFC.com, and ESPN+ for out-of-market streaming. As always, you can check out the latest Fire content, articles, and more at Second City Soccer.
