University of Texas graduate and former Chicago Bears linebacker Sam Acho is taking his talents to the booth. Acho will cover college football with ESPN this fall, becoming a lead studio voice on Saturdays for ESPN2. In addition, the former Bear will also cover various games as a color commentator.
The news came from Daniel Kaplan via Twitter:
It seems as though Sam is following in the footsteps of younger brother Emmanuel Acho, who has become very popular in his role with Fox Sports. An All-Big 12 standout at Texas, Sam was selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played nine seasons in the NFL with Arizona, Chicago, and Tampa Bay. During that time, Acho tallied 18 career sacks and 11 forced fumbles.
More importantly, Acho was a strong presence in the locker room and a great teammate. He was constantly praised for his leadership, hard work, and character. Acho also stayed busy off the field, receiving two nominations for the ‘Walter Payton Man Of The Year’ award due to his charity work within the city of Chicago.
