During Monday night’s White Sox vs. Twins game, Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal suffered a tendon tear in his left knee. The club announced Tuesday he would miss 4-6 weeks, but that no longer seems to be the case.

After further evaluation, the Grandal underwent surgery to repair the tear in his tendon.

The surgery will most likely extend the intially reported timeline, but the White Sox and doctors still expect Grandal to return during the regular season.

Grandal is of that belief as well, as he shared a hopeful message to his Instagram account earlier today.

“Oh the second half is the fun half… wouldn’t miss it for the world… don’t believe me just watch,” Grandal typed as the Instagram story caption with a picture of his surgically repaired left leg propped up in the background.

The White Sox are expected to provide an updated return timeline for Yasmani Grandal in the future.
