After multiple reports of Bears’ defensive lineman Eddie Goldman being absent from the team’s OTAs, it appears the big defensive lineman is back in Chicago getting in his workouts.
SPEAR Training is located in Vernon Hills, IL and that indeed is Eddie Goldman tackling the bench press in the video above. There were previous rumors that the Bears’ lineman was contemplating retirement, but as of now that appears to be nothing more than rumor. Goldman opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to say the Bears missed his presence on his defensive front is an understatement.
The Bears desperately need Goldman back bolstering their inner defensive line in 2021. Goldman has 12.5 career sacks and 102 solo tackles, but that doesn’t provide a complete picture of what he really does in the trenches. His ability to draw multiple offensive linemen in his direction opens up the rest of the defense to make big plays.
Goldman’s return to the Chicagoland area is a positive sign of things to come. Check back for further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
