The White Sox and their fans have finally received some good news on the injury front. Eloy Jiménez will make his return to the field on Friday for Single-A Winston-Salem.
The timeline for a rehabilitation assignment is typically a few weeks, and the White Sox have not officially announced when they expect Jiménez on the Major League squad. Updates will be announced as he progresses through the minor league system.
Bear in mind, he has not played a regular season game this season due to his injury in spring training. That said, the White Sox will gladly welcome back a player capable of 40-plus home runs each season. They currently rank 24th in the MLB in home runs with 86, winning games this season by spraying the ball all over the field.
Losing Yasmani Grandal will greatly impact these numbers, but Jiménez slashed .296/.332/.559 with 14 homers in 2020’s shortened season, which should automatically kickstart the lack of power on the team.
The White Sox are off on Thursday, but return to action on Friday as they travel to Baltimore for three games prior to the All-Star break.
