The Chicago Cubs open a seven-game homestand Friday when they start a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs (47-50, fourth in NL Central) went 3-4 during their seven-game road trip to open the unofficial second half of the season. Chicago took two of three to start against the Diamondbacks in Arizona then lost three of four against the St. Louis Cardinals. Three of the last four games in St. Louis were decided by one run.
The Diamondbacks (30-68, fifth in NL West) have won four straight, including a three-game sweep against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It is Arizona’s first four-game winning streak since April 18-22. Arizona outscored Pittsburgh 21-12 in the series, including an 11-run offensive outburst in the second game.
