Seth Jones will have a new number for the first time in his NHL career.
Jones will wear No. 4 with the Chicago Blackhawks after having No. 3 with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators, the Blackhawks announced Saturday. He previously wore No. 4 with the United States National Development Team. Jones was selected fourth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by Nashville.
Jones will be the first Chicago player to wear No. 4 since Niklas Hjalmarsson in 2017, and the 24th Chicago player overall. The Blackhawks acquired Jones from the Columbus Blue Jackets before the 2021 NHL Draft on Friday.
Caleb Jones, the younger brother of Seth, was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in the Duncan Keith trade earlier this month. Caleb will stick with No. 82. He’s the third player in Blackhawks history to have No. 82, joining Tomas Kopecky (2010-11) and Jordan Oesterle (2018).
