Notre Dame added two NHL-affiliated prospects to its program on the second day of the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.

Irish freshmen forwards Sasha Pastujov and Justin Janicke were selected in the third and seventh rounds, respectively. Pasutjov went to the Anaheim Ducks and Janicke to the Seattle Kraken.

Pastujov led Team USA in goals (five), assists (five), and points (eight) in five games at the under-18 World Juniors. He also led the U.S. National U18 Team in all three major scoring categories (30 goals, 35 assists, 65 points) in 41 games. NHL Central Scouting ranked him No. 18 among North American skaters.

Pastujov (6-foot, 187 pounds) will join Janicke’s older brother, Trevor, a Notre Dame junior forward, in Anaheim’s system. The Ducks selected Trevor in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Justin Janicke (6-0, 181 pounds) scored 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) in 43 games this past season for the USA U18 Team. He added 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 18 USHL games. NHL Central Scouting ranked him No. 128 among North American skaters.

Notre Dame freshmen Hunter Strand, a center (No 55), Ethan Starky (No 95), and Henry Nelson, both defensemen, (No 96) were not selected despite being top-100 ranked by NHL Central Scouting.
