According to Field Yates, the Chicago Bears have placed Tarik Cohen on the PUP list. The Physically Unable to Perform or PUP list is typically designated for injuries that have already occurred to give the player more time to heal. Often times teams place rookies on the PUP list after they sustain minor injuries in college to begin their professional careers as a precaution. This appears to be no different with Tarik Cohen.
The Bears’ running back originally injured his knee last season on a fair-catch called punt. A defender pushed another player into him and Tarik Cohen was out for the rest of the season. Tarik will start the 2021 season on the PUP list. This means he won’t be able to practice with his teammates at all but can be activated at any time.

This is a necessary precaution for the Bears. Putting Tarik Cohen on the PUP list only means they will have to rely more on David Montgomery and newly signed Damien Williams. The Chicago Bears will take their time in allowing Tarik to heal properly before rushing him back onto the field.
