Although left unprotected for the NHL Expansion Draft, Nikita Zadorov (and two others) received qualifying offers from the Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks extended qualifying offers to three of their seven restricted free agents, including defenseman Nikita Zadorov, prior to Monday’s 4:00 p.m. CDT deadline.

Forwards Brandon Hagel and Alex Nylander also received qualifying offers. Forwards Josh Dickinson, David Kampf, Adam Gaudette, and Pius Suter each were not offered qualifying offers.

Gaudette agreed to a one-year, $997,500 contract with the Blackhawks shortly after Monday’s deadline. The deal is equal to what his qualifying offer would have been. The 24-year-old scored four points (one goal, three assists) in seven games with Chicago after he was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks for Matthew Highmore in April.

The other three players who did not receive a qualify offer will become unrestricted free agents if they do not re-sign with the Blackhawks by Wednesday when free agency opens.

Zadorov scored eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 55 games this past season, his first with Chicago. The 26-year-old allowed just 1.93 goals against per 60 at 5-on-5 last season, according to Natural Stat Trick. He was left unprotected in the NHL Expansion Draft. The Blackhawks acquired him from the Colorado Avalanche for Brandon Saad last summer.

Hagel, who turns 23 in August, scored 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) in 52 games during his rookie season as he cemented himself into the Blackhawks’ lineup.

Nylander, 23, did not play this past season as he recovered from a December surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. Blackhawks president of hockey operations and general manager Stan Bowman said earlier this week that Nylander is 100 percent right now and will be ready for training camp.

No Qualifying Offers

Suter, who turned 25 in May, led all Chicago rookies in goals (14) and scoring (27 points) in 55 games this past season. The Blackhawks signed him to a one-year contract after his MVP season in Switzerland’s top league.

Kampf, 26, scored one goal and 12 points in 56 games, but more importantly took command in a more defensive role with Jonathan Toews out for the season with an illness. The Blackhawks protected him in the expansion draft.

Dickinson, 23, scored eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 14 ECHL games for the Indy Fuel. Chicago acquired Dickinson from the Colorado Avalanche in the Carl Soderberg trade in April.
