Eloy Jimenez will play his first MLB game of 2021 tonight, July 26, as the Chicago White Sox visit the Kansas City Royals. Jake Burger was returned to Triple-A Charlotte to make room for Jimenez.

Jimenez tore his left pectoral tendon in a spring training game back in March. Expected to miss five to six months, Eloy’s recovery is on the lesser end of that window, which is truly an astonishing recovery time.

Jake Burger, who joined the team at the beginning of July, will be heading back to Charlotte. While in the Majors, Burger slashed .263/.333/.474 with one home run and three RBIs over 15 games.

This likely won’t be the last time see Jake Burger on the White Sox roster this season. In 42 games at Triple-A Charlotte, Burger is slashing .322/.368/.596 with ten home runs and 36 RBIs. If he continues to put up those number with the Knights, then his visit will likely be short.
