The Chicago Blackhawks wild offseason continues. On Tuesday night, the Blackhawks agreed to a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning involving two-time Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Johnson.

Elliotte Friedman reported the news.

While being unofficially retired, the Blackhawks send the contract of defenseman Brent Seabrook in exchange for Johnson and a second-round pick. While the complete cap implications are not yet clear, Stan Bowman and the Blackhawks certainly have to be pleased to get Seabrook’s contract off the books.

Johnson, 31, carries a $5 million dollar cap hit for the next three seasons. In 55 games last season, the center recorded 22 points, with eight goals and 11 assists. He also tallied seven points in 23 games en route to a Stanley Cup victory this past season.
